As an old billy goat, I've had a crush on you since you were a kid. From Our House, I wanted
you as my son. As Matt in Dr Quinn, you come across as a loving and caring young man. Your
unique eyes and wide grin were so appealing. I trust you are not one of the many egotistical
celebs I have read about. Being talented as you are, is only one part of you. I choose to
believe you are the good and caring person, I think you are.

glad I've found your page.
I know, I'm a little late with my doing here, as I wished so much to contact you 21 years
ago already. I was 16 then in 1990, as you, and as a matter of fact, I've just found out,
that we do share the EXACT same birthday, 5th June of 1974, isn't THAT something?
"Suddenly human" should ring the bell...
Yes, I'm a "trekker" since ST TNG started and watched and taped every episode.
When Suddenly Human (in Germany it's called "Endar's Son") came on, I've been really
unable to follow the plot at all, I just kept pressing the pause button of my VCR every time there
was a close up of you and thought "Oh my, what a gorgeous, beautiful, extremely
handsome guy.." and I've been almost melting away in front of my TV screen while watching
you and just wished, that I could have a boyfriend just like you, I didn't have my coming out
back then (like you) and thought "oh well, this must stay a dream, because he's not gay
anyway and surely has a beautiful girlfriend" and so on...
Think Bruno Mars' song "Just the way you are" describes it to the point, what I felt
for you then...
By the way, what did you think of Wil Wheaton at the time? I've found him a little cheesy, but
also quite sweet as well, looked yummy in that uniform... hehe.. although most ST-fans hate
him, I like him.. Just watched the ST episode now and had a feeling that I should Google your
name to see what happened with you all those years and found out all this stuff.. that you did
Dr. Quinn (never watched that ) and all... and that you're gay too... and now, somehow I wished
I could have contacted you back then, but how? From Germany.. with no internet... no way.
And when I saw, that we even share the same BIRTHDAY, I thought to myself: OK, now pull
yourself together, better late than never, write him something. Sooo... now I did. FINALLY...
I don't even know if you'll read this here, but IF... then I'd like to get in contact with you
somehow and to send you a picture of me...
Thanks for your work at "Suddenly human" - because of you, that's my fav episode and I just
can't wait for it to come out on blu-ray next year in high-def... :-))))))
Wish you all the best from my deepest heart, god bless you, Chad

Hey Chad just wanted to say that until finding this page and reading it I never knew it
was you as the autistic child in St Elsewhere and I watched that a lot! I did however
watch Dr Quinn and enjoyed the show very much. Recently watched a tv movie with
you as a detective where your character had to uncover who was behind the
harassment/threats/fire to a lesbian couples house. I enjoyed the movie very much.
I was surprised to learn you guest starred on a lot of the sitcoms i used to watch
back then i never paid attention to who played what I'm afraid-but as an adult I try to look
when credits roll by if they aren't rolling by too fast. I wish you luck with all
of your endeavors! take care

Hey Chad,
I was going through a bunch of old VHS tapes and ran across one of my favorite
episodes of "Our House". It is the bike accident episode where Patrick Duffy
played
your father. For some reason that episode meant so much to me back then,
and
as I watched it some 10 or 15 years later it meant as much. Just wanted to
let you

I really love Chad Allen and I would do anything

I did get a letter from one of

I really do love you

Chad I was reading some of the other letters

Chad,
My story may not be like others you have read
or heard. You did not influence me to come out, mainly because I am not gay;
however, you did influence a change in my heart and mind. I don't like to
admit part of what I am about to write, but I am glad my way of thinking in
no longer the same.
I grew up in a conservative
Christian family, and I have developed into a Christ-loving and
Christ-following adult. I believe in God and that the Bible is His word.
Growing up, I was always taught that homosexuality was not only a sin, but
something disgusting that I should not even associate with. I was 14 when I
found out you were gay (according to the Globe). I was one of those kids who
idolized you as a teen heart-throb. You were my absolute favorite actor (and
still are). Being a teenage girl, I was crushed, which now makes me laugh
because your sexuality really had no affect on me since I would probably
never meet you and, like I said, I was 14. I was also still thinking like I
had been taught, and I got upset and vowed never to watch your acting again
because you were gay and I couldn't associate with anything homosexual.
The first change in me came
when I continued to watch Dr. Quinn and still enjoyed watching you; I came
to the realization that your personal life was just that- personal. My
slightly changed way of thinking helped me in "real life" when I
entered high school. I think I must've been pretty sheltered because I
never knew anyone in my life who was gay, at least no one who was out. There
are times when I had wondered if someone was, but I was not the cruel kid
who would call them out or make fun of them like other teens. I was involved
in theater with my friends, many who were guys, several who were straight,
several who were out, and several who were in the closet. I am not a fan of
the stereotype that men in theater and musical theater are gay. Yes, some
are, but some aren't. I don't blame people who remain in the closet- I think
I would, too, if I were treated like so many teens are. During this time, my
friends were just my friends- their sexuality did not affect our friendship
and it wasn't how I described them because it wasn't their identity- it was
a part of them, yes, but did not define them.
In college, I continued to
grow in my thinking. As I look back now, in my freshmen year dorm room, I
can remember times when our room was packed with friends- everyone hung out
there. And I can count 9 friends who were gay. My 14 year old self would
freak out, but by age 18 I knew who I was supposed to be- the greatest
commands in the Bible are to love God and to love others. Loving
others is not exclusive- I am to love everyone and it is not my place to
judge.
So that's how I decided to
live. I was going to love and accept people. Everyone. I no longer cared
about what my conservative family and friends would think- people who
seriously act disgusted over the mention of anything homosexual; people who
think I am not being a Christian if I hang out with my gay friends. On the
contrary, I believe that if I were to ditch my friends because they were gay
or because of anything that was "looked down upon" then I would not be
acting like a Christian.
Now, at 28 years old, I
continue to love and accept people. I am ashamed of people who think they
are being dutiful Christians by protesting funerals of gay soldiers,
bullying gay teens, banning gay marriage, protesting movies about
missionaries who are portrayed by an actor who is openly gay, etc. I took a
vacation this past December on my own to San Francisco- when talking about
my trip at church, a fellow youth mentor came up to me and said,
"Ooh, California sounds fun, but don't got there- that's where all
the "gaywads" are." It truly breaks my heart because the Jesus I follow
would not act like that or ever say that.
I know your outing was not
ideal- I agree that coming out is something personal and should be done when
a person is ready to do so, not when they are forced. My 10th high school
reunion is coming up next month, and looking through my facebook friends it
amazes me at how many of my friends have come out. They were not ready in
high school, but now they are adults who are proud of who they are.
So, thank you for opening
my eyes and heart. My life would be a lot different if I was still a
closed-minded person who did not accept anyone who was gay. I would have
treated many people in my life very poorly. I would have lost the
opportunity to have some amazing friends. I may have cut ties with some
family members who are now out. And, heaven forbid, I might have treated
someone so badly that they felt the need to commit suicide. Seriously, as
passionate as I am now about my viewpoints, I would hate to see the outcome
if I was passionate about the opposite. I pray that others realize what it
truly means to love everyone. I pray that closeted teens and adults have the
strength to survive the bullies of this world.
And, as a fan, continue to do what you love
and just be who you are. I enjoy all your work.

Hey Chad !!
Wow I haven't seen you in so long and I have no idea whats going on in your life but I would love to catch up if you want. I hope that the past and that whole magazine thing with us doesn't keep you from contacting me. I have some pretty exciting things happening and I'd love to share it with you. I might be able to use you actually as a spokes person for this product which has been given to me . Well I hope to hear from not only for my business venture
but also to touch base with someone who I have always thought to be a very sweet man . I hope to hear from you Chad .
Also I am very sorry to hear about your mom I know it can't be easy man and I send you a huge hug and my prayers have you added.

Dear Chad,
I am deeply sorry for the loss of your mother. It takes time until the pain will be gone. And you will always miss her but when your sad or don't know what to do, just close your eyes and you will see her and maybe you can see her smile.
Lots of love to you and your family.

In a time like this words are ineffective. Those memories, those cherished moments, the laughter, the shoulder, the care, the support, they are only the essence of the love that is still just as vibrant and alive. Now she is strong again, now she will not be sick or weak, she encompassed in the love and power of Gods white light and she can watch you and guide you, with a power stronger than ever. Smile of those wonderful times, be proud of wisdom you gained through her that so many children never had the opportunity to have. In this hard time of celebrating her life have peace that you were loved in her way, and her loved in yours. Time heals the hurt, She would not want you to second guess the past or to have regret, It only cast over and
diminishes the wonderful blessing of you each having each other in your lives.. Love ya and will say a prayer for you.

Hi Chad, First and foremost I would like to pass
on my condolences to you following the death of your mother. I'm really sorry to
hear that. I'm close to my mum and I dread to think how I'd feel if I ever lost
her. On another note I'm really happy to have tracked you down. I was a big fan
of "Our House" as a kid and watched it every Sunday at 7pm Irish time. It was
brilliant. I recently did a bit of acting myself and would like to progress at
it if I get the chance. Over here in Ireland our country is in a financial
crisis due to a greedy government. I'm so tempted to leave Ireland and go to
America. I 'm wondering if you have a facebook page so I can add you as a
friend. I totally admire you coming out though I disagree with how your ex
boyfriend sold it to the papers. That was totally disrespectful. I hope to meet
you one day, maybe catch you at some gay bar. I'm bisexual myself so we have
something in common sexuality wise though I'm sure your 100% gay. Anyway dude,
hope all is well in California and please email me if you get the chance. It
would make my day. Or alternatively msn me. Bye xxxxx

1) I have loved the Donald Strachey films having read the books years ago. Does
anyone know how to get "ICE BLUES" in DVD format American dvd.
2) I have been with my partner for 32 years and it so charming and endearing to see Chad's portrayal in this series.
3) I also was very touched by his stand (and inclusion) of the focus on the family protests
in the DVD.
4) Chad, you are a very impressive young man. Bravo.
